Due to some health concerns in my household, I’m continuing precautions that many have dropped. I have discovered that my clients can make the most of the market and I can represent them well, if not better, while still being cautious. My general approach is the Swiss cheese model, counting on holes in any plan so stacking precautions.
Base Layer
- For our first meeting we can meet virtually or in person.
- If we meet in person let’s plan to do it outdoors. Shady backyards, porches, patios, parks, pavilions–they all work well.
- I will be in a respirator style mask whenever we are together. Please do the same and don’t worry if you forget. I always have them available.
- When I see your house or we look at houses let’s have longer conversations outside. This allows us to minimize our time indoors. Also, with house showings, it helps us keep our strategies and opinions to ourselves.
- When we go look at houses let’s drive separately.
- If anyone in your household or mine is experiencing any new symptoms that could be viral, let’s reschedule or meet virtually until everyone is better.
- If anyone in your household or mine has had covid recently, let’s meet virtually until they test negative. If it’s my household, then I will have another agent ready to do any in-person activities in my place.
Optional Layers
If you would like to add additional layers of protections I am happy to talk about it and see what is possible. Here are some strategies I have had success with for clients who requested them.
- Outdoor closings
- Remote closings
- Seeing homes earlier in the day, before any “after work” crowds
- Using hand sanitizer on our way in and out of every home. It’s like my first aid kit–always with me.
- Taking videos of homes and sending them to clients to avoid in-person showings.
- For Sellers, scheduling showings when the homeowner can be temporarily or completely out of their home.
Fun Facts
- We can still have coffee or eat together–just not indoors or at restaurants. All we need is a shady spot and a little bit of distance.
- I’ve added heaters to my porches for winter meet-ups. Don’t let cold weather slow you down.
- I’m a talker. I miss riding in cars with my Buyers for hours on end, but now people get a few minutes of quiet as we drive from house to house. While I drive I’m most likely listening to a podcast or wpln.
Thank you for helping to keep my family and yours safe.
If you have any questions, ideas, or concerns please feel free to ask. I would be happy to customize these to fit your situation.
